Housing

As a member of the Arlington County Board, Chris Zimmerman supports programs that expand opportunities for prospective homebuyers and renters. In an effort to further improve services for Arlington families, Chris Zimmerman has:

  • Ensured adoption of an affordable housing ordinance and worked to include affordable units or payment to the County’s Housing Reserve Fund (HRF) when a site plan project is approved.

  • Incorporated housing goals in Arlington’s Comprehensive Plan.

  • Launched the Columbia Pike Housing Initiative.

  • Increased Affordable Housing Investment Fund (AHIF) funding.

  • Spearheaded a real estate tax relief program ensuring that senior citizens cannot be forced out of their homes by taxes.

  • Focused on specific housing preservation efforts directly with tenants, neighborhoods and advocates in Buckingham (including Historic Ballston Park, the Gates of Ballston and Buckingham Villages 1-3), as well as at Columbia Grove, the Monterey/Sierra, Buchanan Gardens, and many others.
